My memory on the day I took IELTS Speaking test is still clear. On that day, I got music topic and I started my talk by saying “Music is an integral part in our life…” without feeling so from my heart, strangely.

Just feel like I came to the U.S to find my missing pieces. I grew up without listening much music and I think that causes me to not be able to feel much music. I was missing out, yes. My first year in the states I was on my friend’s car to school everyday and my friend not only plays music instrument but also is passionate about music. I remembered he was very nice to introduce each day a new song to me with a purpose of helping me to feel music more. Unfortunately under pressure of studying and my commitment to learning everything here, I was still focusing more on my study and could not spend more time for filling up my music soul. However right now in California, while I have a lot that I cannot share with others, I tend to come to music to calm myself and to resonate my feeling. I started feeling that I want to play an instrument and it’s violin. Since I have not got it yet, I am listening to others playing it more and more. Violin feels so sweet, soft but lasting and that relates to me a lot. At first I was worried that this is more of a spontaneous feeling rather than a serious cause but gradually my curiosity is growing more and more. I wonder how I will feel in playing it. Above all, I think the best way to feel music is to play an instrument. Not to mention, I and music players share one thing, it’s passion. Whenever I like something, I have a strong feeling about it and that feeling usually lasts very long. I am so amazed by people who have passion and keep their passion grow. Right now, at this moment, I admire Karolina — a little violist, she picked up music at early age and had expressed her passion as well as talent to many people. I can’t take my eyes out of her.

Great music now is no longer a background sound to me anymore, it’s something that I can spend long hour watching and enjoying with attention. Probably I did not know to pick up the right music for myself before ;) One day, I will be holding you and tasting you, violin!
