People love in different ways.
My aunt loves me and my cousin by cooking for us the best foods and even helping us to plan out our lives, which sometimes is not necessary. However, her way of loving is to see people she loves be better every day. She likes to see things in motion, she loves growth.
My cousin loves in a very unique way. He would never say things in a nice and sweet way yet he likes to challenge people he loves. His love comes with being aggressive, with thorns, with being heart broken sometimes. The way he loves almost makes me feel like he hates more than loves, it is a tough love. Yet, deep down, I know he cares and he would not want the people he loves are in trouble.
My another aunt loves in the sweetest way. She cooks for me all the foods I crave for or my favorite foods. She cares, deeply about how I am and about how my life is going. The way she cares and understands makes me melt. She would say things like “I love you”, “Please stay here a little more”, and “Is it something you want? It is up to you”.
My uncle loves in silence. So does my dad. They are calm men. Their silence always implies something, yet not clear. It can mean yes, it can mean no, it can also mean ‘hm’. They are the ones who stand in the back or besides watching me grow and support. It is challenging a lot of the time to get their opinions.
My younger sister loves like a mom, she takes care of everyone much more than she takes care of herself. She puts other people first. She even gets angry when she sees my brother behave in destructive ways. Whenever I am home, she would be the one who puts my bag away, prepare meals for me, and ask me if I need anything. Sometimes, I feel she is more like an older sister, not me.
My friend loves through sweet words. She would say things like “hey Hong, how are you? how are you feeling?”, “that is very nice of you”, “you are so sweet”. She likes to make others feel good about themselves. When I just knew her, I even wondered if she is just nice or she truly means what she says until later on I understand that she has such a warm heart. She might be a little slacking when it comes actions but her words just come out naturally.
My younger brother since he is still young loves in the most innocent and cutest way. He sometimes says things like “sis, would you want some chips, I will ship them to you?”, “sis, you do not look happy today, what happened?”, “sis, I am tired”, etc. He is a happy little boy who wants to make sure his sister is also happy and in good shape. He likes to touch, to hug, to surround himself with people he loves.
I myself loves through actions. I would go extra miles for people I love. I want to know what is going on with them and how I can help. To me, love is equal of gives and takes. One should not give more than take or vice versa. Love in my opinion should also be free, no obligation, no condition, and no mandate. And above all, love is good, is meaningful, is what makes life worth living. “Never regret going for love!”.
