People usually say ‘looking for love’ but what if love is already around and in you, there is no point to look for love anymore. Your lover might have been following you your entire life and there is just a moment when if you are patient enough, you will meet that person. Perhaps, God has a plan for everyone.
Love starts with the touch you have with your mother, the one who loves you unconditionally. Then the more you grow, you start to be exposed to strangers, friends, and many other people on earth, your understanding about love has been sharpened. The journey prepares your heart to be broken and to be healed. Love is not given yet tested. True love will always survive.
I once asked my aunt “what is love?” and she could not find a proper answer to give me, she said “it is a very complicated concept and it can be up to each person to decide”. Love moves us and makes us want to change for the other person. Love turns us to a kid and forgets the world around him. Love spins us around, throws us high up into the sky like when we are in a swing. Love gets us to dare greatly, to embrace the risk of being hurt again, of being rejected and disappointed over and over until we learn the love lessons.
No one has ever taught us to love, and maybe it is meant to be that way. Love is a universal language that anyone can speak. We start to love by wanting love. Why don’t we just stay with the love our parent and family give us, why do we want the love from our lover? Or is it because our parent’s job is to raise us into adults, after that, we are on our own and we need a companion?
“Love yourself first and then love one another as much as you love yourself?”. Yes, both kinds of love are beautiful. However, if we are seriously thinking about the long term, we might realize that walking by yourself is simple but not easy. To be able to love another person is what brings one’s meaning in life. Nothing can substitute this.
