Look inward

I woke up today and thinking of heading to the city which is about 50 miles away. However, there was something in me telling that I was not calm at that moment. I thought perhaps I should sit down to meditate and make myself quiet for just a little bit.

The more I sit there, the more I want to be just there. And then I saw myself as a monkey running around, not sure of what he is looking for. I even lied down for an hour while stretching and meditating. It took energy to get calmer and to look inward, that is why I was hungry afterward. Yes, that was treasure to stop for a beat to see how life is flowing, and how we are feeling about ourselves. Busy and modern life can easily steal that from us. To be able to connect and make friend with myself is something I always appreciate. We tend to run and try to run faster, yet, we might not have a clear idea of where we are running toward. I would like to call it ‘living on the surface’.

We all have moments like that, of looking out for something better, of taking what we have for granted. We look out for a better opportunity, we look out for others to see what they are doing. After that we are worried. These are obviously not unusual in day-to-day life, perhaps, it is even strange to not experience them, since we are humans, at the end of the day. Nevertheless, we do not need to wait until when we are over 50 to look back and to pay a closer attention to life. At that point, we might realize some wisdom but we barely have energy or opportunities to strive.

After the meditation, I had breakfast with tofu and vermicelli. It was delicious and tasty. While I was turning my look to the window, I was ‘wow, the sunflowers are really growing!”. They were all shining even under a cloudy sky. They are never hesitated to show to the world their beauty. Each of them contributes to make the earth brighter. If we are too caught up with ourselves, these might be forgotten.

Life needs both yin and yang, low and high. Looking inward is as important as looking out. And once our selves are taken care, I believe we are more ready to serve the world as we desire.

Take your time ❤
