Decisions are usually just hard at time. Something was challenging yesterday might not be so today anymore. Life is a series of days, every day brings new opportunities and new chances. Isn’t that the beauty of life?

My favorite people tend to live their lives with a general purpose of being better everyday. However, there are moments they do feel as if they are not moving forward, or being behind. There are times they question themselves whether what in front of them is the right thing to do.

At the worst, some even wish others to make decisions for their lives. Perhaps, they do not want to take responsibilities. I read somewhere that we hesitate to make a decision less because we do not know what to choose and more because we are afraid to do it. Every decision brings certain changes while changes are uncomfortable. If things are just always same as the way they are, we do not need to make any decision at all, yet, what is the exciting part of life?

Now, that is not to say that we don’t need to put much thoughts in a decision. Every decision can have a big or small impact to our lives. The adventure game is the best analogy in this situation. In the game, for every move, you are presented two choices and for every choice you take, it leads to a different scenario, a new set of choices.

Is there such thing as the best decision? A decision can be the best at the moment, and by someone. The thing is, we wish we could foresee the future so that we know what might turn out if we make this one decision. However, again, that is not life. Life comes with unknowns and uncertainties. And, we do not just make one big decision and it is done. One decision opens up new challenges and possibilities that we need to face. A common technique is to list out what we know, what we do not know, what are advantages, and what are disadvantages. Through researches and considerations, we will then realize what we truly want. The last thing is to accept the risks associated with each decision. Not to mention, it involves weighing between the heart and the mind, what aligns with our values and what not. Above all, I do believe that if we can figure out a general direction for our lives, every decision that leads to that direction will be right.

How about we just abandon our choices and not make any decision at all? Perhaps, that is also a decision. Having said that, to live is to venture out, to make the best out of what we have, so why not exploring every choice and then choose. If we leave out all the fears, what is left is courage.

If we want to make a good and right decision, we can.
